The Rodeo Skills/Drills event is coming up this Friday at Marinette. This is a fun social event that will test your skills in several categories. Come out and give it a try! Lunch will be provided. See the Website for more information and to sign up.
The Club Tournament is set for Friday, February 22, also at Marinette. You will play in a round robin format with several other players of as nearly equal ability as the Tournament Directors can match up. More details, sign up and payment on the Website.
The courts are extremely crowded at this time of year. Lots of patience and good manners are high priorities. We have scheduled play on many of our courts much of the time, and that may limit the courts available for open play. We all might consider altering our play times accordingly. Crowded or not, however, there is no excuse for screaming, bullying and some of the other behaviors we have seen over the last few weeks. If a group is coming on to a court you’re playing on, be prepared to exit the court at or before the time the new group is scheduled. If your group is scheduled on a court, there is no reason for you to expect to get on that court early unless it’s empty. During open play, we need to come all the way off the court at the end of each game, not just look out and decide it’s OK to stay! It’s not! If no one arrives promptly to use the court you may certainly go right back on. If you are waiting to play you need to be ready to take a court when it becomes available! Basically, let’s all behave like the mature adults we think we are and there will be no more issues!
WOW! What a great SSIPA tournament! Everyone seemed to have a great time – in fact, many visitors took the time to tell us that – the weather was perfect and many of our Club Members participated and won medals. Please go to Picklebaltournaments.com to see results. Go to the Tournament dropdown, then Tournaments this Week.
Our tournament didn’t run as smoothly as it did by accident. Thank yous and Congratulations are in order to Donna Holick and the entire crew of volunteers who made it all happen! Thank You all!

Limited Mobility Pickleball continues in the Marinette Pavilion Fridays at 10. If you, or someone you know, can’t move at full speed anymore, you need to check this out. Perhaps you’ve had surgery recently or have some aches and pains and hope to get back to regular PB soon. This will work for you. Or perhaps you just can’t move as well as you’d like for whatever reason. This will be a great fit. Rules are adjusted to compensate for whatever limitations there may be, and people with similar limitations are grouped together. Must be a RCSC card holder to participate, and your friends will be asked to join the Club after 3 visits to try out LMP.
Rodeo Skills/Drills information and sign up is now available on the Club website. This is a fun social event where you will participate in 5 or 6 drill stations to test your skills in each. At day’s end you’ll have a much better idea of what your strong points are and where improvement is most needed.
Name badges must be worn at all times at Club functions and while playing. It’s getting better, but we still see many people not wearing theirs. Beginning February 1 we will be checking at all lessons, clinics, round robins , ladders, etc to make sure all participants are members. The easiest way to do this is check for name tags with a 2019.sticker. Please be wearing yours!
Tom Jeffers will be running a clinic for line judges Monday, Jan 26, @ 3 at Marinette. If you will be line judging at our SSIPA tournament next week, or plan to do so sometime in the future, this is for you. No sign up necessary.
Jane Powell and Partner won a Silver medal at 3.5/60+ at Happy Trails last week. Congratulations Jane! If we missed anyone else, please let us know. For future tournaments we will be referring you to Pickleball Tournaments.com to check the results.
Join us tonight for Couples Nite/Social Nite at Marinette around 5 PM.
Not only was it a perfect day to play pickleball, but it was a perfect day to win! Sun City Pickleball Club beat Sun City West 64 to 44 games, or breaking it down further, we beat them 956 to 834 points!! Thanks to all who participated and special thanks to Terri Smiley & Lynda Skaggs for helping with score keeping. Next competition will be at Marinette on February 24th.
We are still seeing lots of players on the courts without Name Badges. Granted that some are not members; most of them are. It is important that all of us wear ours at all Club functions and Club play. Please make sure you are wearing yours!

Couples Nite & Grab a Bite, also called Social night, is back in full swing with the Griffins back and ready to organize dinners. Come to Marinette Fridays around 5 to play for a while, socialize and go out for dinner. Dinner location varies. Of course, you may come just for play or just for dinner.
Volunteers are still needed for the Marinette SSIPA Tournament coming up at the end of the month. Sign up on the Club website. Most work assignments are less than 4 hours, and volunteering is a great way to meet new pickleball players.
