This event is a fund raiser for our club. You can also email Marcia if you can’t get to Marinette and she will add your name on the poster.
Enjoy this great weather and get to the courts.
Player Development Clinics
The Sun City Pickleball Club needs individuals to volunteer to instruct our club members in all phases of Pickleball … from the basics for our beginners to more advanced strokes and strategy for the intermediate level players. Are you willing to give 1 ½ hours each week towards player development at our club? Our clinics are on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 11:30 a.m. Please consider working with 4 players per court to facilitate a clinic. Our club needs all levels to pay it forward! If interested, please contact Peter Miceli. Without additional instructors, the club will have to limit the number of people that can register for each clinic.
Round Robin for 4.0+ Players
Some players are interested in starting a round robin for the more experienced club players. It has been suggested that this start on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. No sign-up is needed. Since there is a club event on Sunday, February 12th, the first round robin will start on the following Sunday.
The annual club tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1. Registration has reached the tourney limit. If registered, please pay your $5 to either Richard Heywood or any board member or drop your $5 check into the mailbox behind the bulletin boards at Marinette.
See you on the courts,
Roz Condrashoff will be demonstrating the Simon Ball Machine at Marinette on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. This machine can help you practice various shots and is a great learning tool available to all Pickleball club members. Drop by to learn the different setup options and practice.
Entries are being accepted for the club tournament. Go to the website to register.
The intersection of Union Hills and 99th Avenue is closed until Thursday morning, but there is access to Marinette from Union Hills. Come and play but beware many cars are using our parking lot as an access road to 99th.
The annual club tournament will be held on Wednesday, March 1 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The event will be limited to the first 80 players registered. Cost of this event is $5 payable by cash to any board member or Richard Heywood, or if paying by check, the check can be deposited in the mailbox behind the bulletin boards at Marinette. All players will be assigned to a flight with 8 players in each flight. This will be a round robin format … so each player will play once with everyone in their flight. The Southwest Regional Pickleball Tourney was definitely a success thanks to all of our clubs volunteers monitoring the doors, manning our club table, directing the traffic in the parking lots, and drying courts to continue outdoor matches. Thanks to all of you for your time and thanks to Dave Breault for coordinating the volunteer schedules for all 4 days.
Our club also had several medal winners during the 4 days of competition.

Our January 6th team event went very well. Thanks to the extra help I had this year. I want to say a special thank you to Lindsey Winthrop and Cathy LaParl for the help in the auditorium setting up all of the wonderful food items. Great job ladies!! Thank you also to those people who filled in for me on the last day. We did have someone take the wrong lid on their crock-pot. Keith Tilton has a lid that does not fit his crock-pot, so please check your lids and contact Keith to make arrangements for the switch. Continue reading →
We definitely have a lot going on in 2017. This Friday, January 6th is our first club event, so if you have registered for the team tourney, please make sure you have paid your $2/person to one of your board members as soon as possible. Play begins promptly at 2:30 p.m. We will have a potluck dinner after all 5 rounds have been completed. The Marinette auditorium will be setup for dinner so you can drop your food off before you start playing. Don’t forget to wear your “colored” shirt to match your teammates. Continue reading →
Slam Director Glenn Jones has arranged with the person doing brackets for the tournament to put all 2.5 Women, Men or Mixed teams together in one bracket regardless of age if there are at least three teams entered. If you are interested in playing it would be worth your while to recruit other teams to play against, otherwise 2.5’s will be grouped with 3.0s in order to create competition for them. This happened to two of our teams at the Shootout. It couldn’t have been fun, but the only other solution is to withdraw and not play at all. All brackets are filling rapidly, so get your entry in ASAP or you may be shut out, regardless of level.
If there are at least three ladies teams at the 2.5 level, that bracket will also run regardless of the age of the players within the 2.5 bracket.
