Candidates: If you will be seeking office in tomorrow’s election, and have opposition, you will be given a 2 minute (max!) time slot to tell everyone why you are the best candidate . Those running unopposed will have a chance to introduce themselves while we await the election results.
Tickets: Party ticket sales ended Monday, as announced over 2 weeks ago. At that time, we needed to give the caterer an accurate count. A few members have since expressed interest in tickets, and there are always a few people who can’t use their tickets at the last minute. If you fit either description please contact Frank Spina and we will try to pair sellers with buyers.
Surprise Pickleball Association is looking for line judges for its Tommy Wong and Southwest Regional Championships, which run back to back from January 3 through 12. They are paying $5 per match for their “Volunteers”. If interested, contact Marlene Berwald @ 219-688-3022.
We will be selling no Christmas Party tickets after noon Monday (Dec 2). I will be at Marinette Monday from about 8:30 til at least 10:00 with tickets. If you want tickets and that still doesn’t work for you, please contact Frank Spina to make arrangements. If you have dietary restrictions, please contact Frank, also.
Our last Club Meting of 2019 will be Friday (Dec 6) @1;00 @ Marinette. The Men’s Round Robin has been cancelled, and the Beginner Paddle Up, which is moving to Fridays at 2:00, has been delayed until 3:00 for this week only.
If you will be attending the Christmas party and have dietary restrictions, please let Frank Spina know ASAP. The buffet will include gluten free salads, but other options are available by request. They are: Gluten Free Pizza, Garlic Cheesy Bread, Regular Wings, Pasta, Rice Krispy and Brownie.
Our Modified PB program is in full swing, meeting on Marinette courts 5&6 at 10AM Tuesdays and 2PM Wednesdays. Play is modified for those with disabilities, whether temporary or permanent, and the whole program is very low key, making it a great choice for those new to the game and a bit intimidated by the early morning crowds. Please mention this play possibility to your friends who may be a little reluctant to give PB a try. Contact Allen Gilson for more info.
Couples Night/Social Night is also going strong on Fridays at 5 (or so) at Marinette. Come play for awhile, then have dinner with new and old friends. This week is apparently going to be cool and damp, so dinner will likely involve going out to a local restaurant. Contact Terry Griffin to let her know if you plan on attending.

Christmas Party Tickets will be on sale until Monday, December 2nd. The weather this week has impacted when who will be where to sell them. If you have been unable to get tickets, contact me at this email and we’ll arrange to get tickets to you. The Party is December 7 at 4:30 at Bell. The meal will be catered by Sardella’s, entertainment by “Street Player”. Attire is your choice, from casual to semi formal. Beverages are included, but you might want to bring your drink of choice.
The Wednesday Round Robin had very few participants this past week, perhaps because there was no publicity and no pre-registration. This event goes on at 10:00 and is usually run by Pat Sterba. In Pat’s absence, however, any participant can take the Round Robin sheets and get started.
The Mens League did not have enough participants to get started. For the time being there is a Mens Round Robin taking place on Fridays at noon. Once there are enough players, the League will start up as originally planned.
As of now, we have sold approximately 175 tickets for the Christmas party. It’s still 3 weeks away, but there is a limit to the number of tickets we can sell, so don’t procrastinate on this!
We apologize to those who came to Marinette this morning looking for Christmas Tickets. We got our signals crossed. Next week Frank or I will be at Marinette Mon, Wed and Fri mornings and Tue evening. Frank will also have tickets available prior to the Colors Tournament Monday afternoon and will be at Mountain View Wednesday morning.
The registration deadline for the Volunteer Luncheon, which will take place next Saturday, has been extended to Tuesday, November 12. Anyone who has volunteered at ANY Club event this year is eligible to attend. More info online, and register with Signup Genius.
You should have received an email from Richard Heywood giving you your color assignment for Monday’s Color Tournament. Please wear a shirt and /or cap in your team colors so your teammates can identify you and cheer you on! There will be a light meal served in the Auditorium after play. Please bring your drink of choice. If you have not heard from Richard by now, contact him.
There is no more expected delay – as of now – in the reopening of courts 1-12, now scheduled for noon tomorrow. Your patience has been appreciated.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, Christmas Party Tickets will be on sale Monday evening from 5:30-7 at Marinette this week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning sales will continue as scheduled, and evening sales will go back to Tuesdays next week.

First, thanks to all who played in, volunteered at and just came to watch the Roundup! And especially, thanks to Jeff and Lynda Skaggs and Donna Holick for putting it on, and to Kevin Pates for the great write up on our webpage.
Registration is still open for the Women’s League, which will play Wednesdays at noon, and the Men’s League, which will play Fridays at noon. A mandatory organizational meeting for all participants will take place Monday at 1 in Marinette Auditorium. If you are unable to make this meeting, you must contact Jeff or Lynda Skaggs immediately to make arrangements.
The first Ratings Clinic of the season will take place November 9 at noon at Marinette. Participants must be a member of SCPC, have been playing PB at least 2 months and not have an existing SCPC or USAPA rating. The Club will not override anyone’s USAPA rating and, at least for this session, will not be adjusting existing Club Ratings.
Courts 1-12 will be closed Tuesday thru Thursday next week for repairs to the expansion joints. All scheduled Club activities on those days will be cancelled. This certainly is not great timing for this project, but it could have been worse! Please plan your play accordingly!
The Color Tournament will take place November 11 at 2. Food will be available after play. More info on our website. Registration is still open.
The Volunteer Luncheon is scheduled for November 16 at noon on the Marinette patios. Lunch will be catered by Sardellas. If you have volunteered in any capacity in 2019 you are eligible to attend this event. Come on out and let us thank you! Registration closes November 10th.

As mentioned earlier, our annual Christmas Party will be December 7 in the Bell social Halls. Happy hour at 4:30, dinner at 5:30, and it was originally stated the band will play from 6 – 8. Hopefully we can get the start and finish times for the entertainment both moved a little later. Tickets will go on sale Monday, November 4. Frank Spina will be at Marinette from 8:30 til 10:00 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I’ll have the tickets at Marinette Tuesday evenings beginning November 5 from 5:30 til 7:00. Sales will end December 2. Please contact Frank if neither option works for you.
