Our Independence Day breakfast and round robin event today was a great success! We had a great member and guest turnout for our club event. Special thanks to PK for organizing the breakfast, to those who brought dishes to share, and to our volunteers for assisting with the food service and the round robin play. Also, our thanks to the Marinette staff for setting up the tables and chairs in the perfect shady patio location. What a great way to burn some calories and work up an appetite! On the social side, this was the perfect time to catch up with our fellow club members on summer plans and sharing stories of travel and adventure. See you on the courts!
The procrastinators among us still have a few hours to register for our July 3 Independence Day breakfast. Please do so ASAP, if you have not already done so and wish to attend.
Those wishing to participate in a Round Robin on the 3rd should plan to be in the Pavilion by 6:50. Courts will be available for open play as well, both for those attending the Breakfast and those who just can’t hang around til 8:30 for it to be ready.
As has been the norm lately, this event is being coordinated by PK Klepadlo and her group of volunteers. Please take a moment to thank them profusely!
And while you’re thanking people this Independence Day, thank a Veteran!
One last reminder!
Our Club’s Annual Independence Day Party will take place next Wednesday, July 3rd on the Marinette Patio from 7 – 9AM. Coffee and a few breakfast munchies will be available about 7, with breakfast (a breakfast casserole, breakfast sandwiches, etc) at 8:30. Feel free to bring breakfast snacks to share, and bring your beverage of choice if coffee, orange juice and water are not enough .There will be a Round Robin for those who wish to participate, and open play for others.
While there is no fee for this event, you must sign up by Friday, June 28.
After a little discussion with those at the courts and especially with our chief volunteer, PK, we have decided to make the July 3rd get together a Breakfast/Brunch rather than an afternoon meal.
The event will now be from 7 to 9AM. Courts open at 6, as normal, and there will be a Round Robin at 7 for those who wish to play in one. Breakfast will be at 8:30, and coffee and breakfast snacks will be available around 7. The Club will provide coffee, juice, a breakfast casserole, breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast goodies. You may bring a compatible snack to share if you wish.
The sign up has been, or will be soon, adjusted to reflect the new times.
The Club’s annual Independence Day Party will take place July 3 at 5PM on the Marinette Patios. This has always been a fun time for us heat lovers – “Desert Frogs” – to get together and gossip (just kidding) about the “Snow birds”, and compare our plans for the rest of the summer. We are planning a social “hour” at 5:00, with the meal ready at 5:30. There has sometimes been play before and/or after the party
It’s doubtful that my old grill would survive another trip to cook hot dogs, but the Club will provide a meal for us (more info on exactly what as it becomes available). The Club will also provide tableware and ice. Please bring your beverage of choice, and perhaps a snack/dessert/appetizer to share. We will have only brief access – possibly none – to the refrigerator in the Auditorium as there will be a movie scheduled there.
This is a free event for members and ONE escorted guest, but you must sign up thru the Club Website. The sign up is already posted – Thank You Bill! If you sign up and then cannot attend, please notify the Club or you will be ineligible for the next function.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING TOMORROW @ NOON @ FAIRWAY.
Be there! And please wear your nametag!
The Farewell Dinner Friday evening was a great success! Thank you to all who attended – you are what makes these functions work! And Thank You once again to PK and her volunteers, this time especially Tom Jeffers and Steve McClean!
No report yet on the Dink Tournament, but past efforts say Phil Arinno again did a great job on it. Thank you Phil! This was, however, an event that was very poorly attended. We need your feedback. If you did play, would you like to see this event again? And if you did not, why not? Is it just a dead event that will never interest you? Bad day and/or time? Didn’t like the format? Something else? Please respond to this email with your thoughts on this subject, or email Phil or me directly.
As most of you know by now, Ed Millett has had to resign as our President for health reasons. He will be sorely missed, especially by those of us who try to take up the slack. As a result of Ed’s resignation, I have moved in to the office of President and Tom Jeffers has agreed to fill the office of Vice President for the balance of the year. Thanks for all your work Ed! And thank you for stepping up to help out Tom!
The Nominating Committee is set, and it met for the first time this afternoon. The members

The Club will provide tableware, but please bring utensils to serve your dish if they will be needed. See you there at
Lots coming up soon in the SCPC!
The Farewell Dinner is this Friday at 6. You must register on our Website by 8 this evening to be included in this event!
The Dink Tournament will be Monday at Marinette. Registration has been disappointingly slow. The Men’s brackets will be combined into one, as will the Women’s. This is a really fun event and is a great equalizer for many of us! Power is of no advantage in this event; finesse and patience are! Check out the rest of the info on our website and sign up today!
Our final Membership Meeting of the season will be Tuesday, March 26, at noon at Fairway. Please make every effort to attend! There is a lot to be discussed and voted on! The Minutes of our January Meeting are posted on line and at both PB facilities. Please read them in advance; they will not be read at the meeting.
In our last email, I incorrectly identified a recently deceased member as John Falbo. The correct first name is Jim. My apologies to Jim’s family and those of you who could not identify him because of my error. The balance of the report is accurate.
The Dink Tournament is not filling as early as we had hoped. Please go to the Club Website and register today. Once on the website, go to “Our Club”, “About Our Club”, and scroll to “Sign up Links”.
Don’t forget the last day to register for the Farewell Dinner is Tuesday, March 19! More details on the Website.
A beautiful week coming up for Pickleball! Get on out there!
