After a little discussion with those at the courts and especially with our chief volunteer, PK, we have decided to make the July 3rd get together a Breakfast/Brunch rather than an afternoon meal.
The event will now be from 7 to 9AM. Courts open at 6, as normal, and there will be a Round Robin at 7 for those who wish to play in one. Breakfast will be at 8:30, and coffee and breakfast snacks will be available around 7. The Club will provide coffee, juice, a breakfast casserole, breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast goodies. You may bring a compatible snack to share if you wish.
The sign up has been, or will be soon, adjusted to reflect the new times.
No real news to report, but a few things have come up that deserve mention.
There was a good turnout for our most recent Fun Day on the 17th at Marinette, and a few members have asked that the Friday Night Social continue. The Fun Day was a 4PM start, with snacks and drinks but no plan to go to dinner afterwards. So, for those who are interested, let’s see if this is something that can continue thru the summer.
We have been asked not to bring chairs into the area between courts 13, 14 & 15,16. Please try to refrain from bringing chairs into that area, but if you can’t at least have the courtesy to return the chairs to their homes as you leave.
There has been talk about moving the clock now on the east fence of courts 13 – 16 to the south end. In theory, the front and back of the clock would not be exposed to the direct early and late sun, and the sun would be directly above for most of the day. If you have any serious objection to this move, please let me know.
Our next Club event is the Independence Day Party on July 3rd. It is currently scheduled for 5 PM on the Patios. The Club will provide food, while you’ll bring your beverages of choice. More on this as we get closer.
“Cool” weather continues this week! See you on the courts!
A reminder to all of our club members that Fun Day is coming up at the Marinette courts this Friday at 4:00 PM. While many of our members have departed for the season, the rest of us can come out to play, have a snack, and socialize a bit with fellow players.
So grab your paddle, bring a snack, and enjoy an evening of fun and play!
Thanks to all the club members that came out for Fun Day at Mountain View. There were snacks aplenty and challenging games for the players at all levels. The temperature was perfect with a light breeze to keep us all cool and focused on our game. See you at our next event!
Reminder for all club members that coming up this Thursday at Mountain View at 4:00 PM, the Club will be hosting our Fun Day event. The Club will furnish plates, napkins, cups and utensils. Please bring a snack to share and your beverage of choice. Hope to see you there!
Sorry for the delay: MailChimp has been winning the battle for awhile!
Thanks to all who came to our Membership Meeting Tuesday! While aware it was an inopportune time for many, we felt it important to schedule a meeting at Fairway and that was the only time slot available anywhere within our requests. Although the discussion got a bit contentious at times, many good points were made, and it appeared most realized the Scheduling Committee and Board are doing everything possible to be fair to all members. We will continue to address your concerns as fairly as possible. The paperwork is ready to be submitted for approval of the purchases discussed, and we hope to hear something soon. The Minutes are now available on the Website and will be posted to the bulletin boards soon.
Thanks to all who took a few moments to share their thoughts on the Dink Tournament which took place Monday. Hopefully some adjustments can be made that will draw more participants next time.
Our next Club event is a Fun Day at 4PM on Thursday, April 11, at Mountain View. Bring your paddle, a snack to share and your beverage of choice! The Club will provide plates, napkins and cups. This is a great opportunity to meet, and renew friendships with, some members you haven’t met or rarely see.
As most of you know by now, Ed Millett has had to resign as our President for health reasons. He will be sorely missed, especially by those of us who try to take up the slack. As a result of Ed’s resignation, I have moved in to the office of President and Tom Jeffers has agreed to fill the office of Vice President for the balance of the year. Thanks for all your work Ed! And thank you for stepping up to help out Tom!
The Nominating Committee is set, and it met for the first time this afternoon. The members are: Nancy LeRoy-Mott, Jerry Raisanen and Karen Tolliver. They will put together the best slate of officers possible and present them to us at our October 21 meeting. If you are interested in filling one of our Officer Positions contact one of these members as soon as possible.
If you are interested in participating in the Club Dink tournament, you need to sign up NOW!
Registration is available on our website.
The next Club Meeting is this coming Tuesday at noon at FAIRWAY. Please make every effort to be there! The Agenda, as of now, for the meeting follows. Please save or print it – there will not be copies available at the meeting.

Beginning late this week Franklin balls will once again be supplied by the Club. While not perfect, this seems to be the ball that will give the Club the best service for its money for the foreseeable future. Balls will be placed in the racks and coolers. They will not be handed out to anyone for any reason. They are purchased by the Club for use on Sun City courts ONLY. There is no reason for any of them to be in anyone’s bag or backpack!.
The Sun City vs Sun City West Reciprocal was a tight competition yesterday, but we managed to pull it out by winning 50 games to 48 games! This was the fifth competition out of six and as it stands now, Sun City leads the series 3-2. The social gathering and snacks on the patio were enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone who competed and bringing their “A” game! Special thank you to the scorekeepers: Sam Conway, Frank Spina and Terri Smiley who rushed over to help after winning the Gold Medal with Jan Hodgson at the Grand Canyon State Games Tournament!
We look forward to next month’s and last competition of the season at Sun City West Liberty Courts on March 17th, please sign up as the slots fill quickly!
