Sun City Pickleball Club Posted on March 13, 2022 by Bill BoothMarch 13, 2022

80 degrees today. Yahoo!

The Desert Frogs vs Snowbirds was a great club event. Lots of fun and laughter and just a little competitive juice thrown in. A huge thanks to Marcia Gregory for being the tournament director. Marcia also had some great helpers. Thanks to Winston, Shirley, Ros, Jane and Jeff. The Snowbirds “won” the event, but getting our club together was the important thing.

Thanks to Deb Lantzy and her helpers for setting up and organizing the food for the Farewell Dinner. Again, a fun time was had by one and all.

Thanks to Evelyn Larson for organizing a round robin at the Mountain View to accommodate our club members who were not able to get signed up for the Frogs vs Snowbirds.

Ilja Gregor would like to thank all who donated paddles to his son’s PE class. Ilja was able to send off 30 paddles to his son due to your generosity

I got an interesting email from an Ernesto Velazquez a founder and tournament director of a pickleball club and tournament in Spain. He is having two PB tournaments in Spain, One in June and one July. He is to be sending me more information about promotional packs to go to Spain for these events. If you want to go to Spain to play some PB let me know and I’ll pass on info as I get it.

With the warmer weather approaching, please if you are the last players on the courts at the Marinette or Mt. View pick up the balls and put them into a cooler. Thanks.

Membership meeting on Tuesday, March 15th, at 5 pm at Mt. View auditorium.

All for now, I’m sure someone will remind me tomorrow of something I left out of the email.

See you all on Tuesday,
Dan H.

Sun City Pickleball Club Posted on January 8, 2022 by Bill BoothJanuary 8, 2022

Good Afternoon

As we leave the Holiday behind and move into the new year our club is really starting to get busy. Many of the snowbirds have returned in the past week including many of our Canadian friends who missed last year because of covid. So nice to see all the friendly faces on the courts

Just a reminder that your club renewal form and $15 payment need to be submitted by January 15th. You can easily do this on our club website or by filling out a paper form and depositing it the black mailbox inside the Marinette pavilion. We should be seeing red 22 stickers on all name badges by the 16th or shortly after.

Now, speaking of submitting your renewal form. By signing, submitting and paying your club dues you are basically signing a contract. You are agreeing to follow the bylaws, rules and procedures of the Sun City Pickleball Club. You can find these documents on our club website. just a few reminders of what you have AGREED to when you signed that form.
1. During all club activities including drop-in play Monday-Friday 7am to 11am you are REQUIRED to wear your name tag. Please don’t take offense or get defensive if a board member or another club member asks where your name tag if not wearing during club time/activities. It’s required.
2. You have agreed to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours to the club. There is currently a volunteer sign up for the Spring Slam on our website
3.You have agreed to “demonstrate good sportsmanship and respect for others”. This includes making sure all players get equal access to the use of the courts.
4. You’ll have fun. I’ve kind of added that one on my own.

Some upcoming dates/activities.
January 14th Fun Day at Marinette from 4 to 7pm. Bring a snack to share.
January 16th reciprocal vs Sun City West at Sun City West. 4.0+ men’s and women players needed for this event. Please contact Jeff Skaggs if interested.
January 17th club membership meeting at Marinette auditorium 4pm.
February 4th. The Rodeo/skills event has been cancelled due to covid concerns.
February 18th Club Tournament. Look for sign up on website soon

Please consider attending the first RCSC board meeting of the new year on Monday, January 10th at 9am This meeting is at the Sun Dial Auditorium. If you wish to speak at this meeting be sure to show up early to get your name on the signup sheet. Sheet is taken away promptly at 8:59.

Happy Hitting
Dan H.

Happy New Year

Our club got off to a good 2022 start on January 1st with a Fun Day at the Mt. View rec center courts. We had lots of happy players, lots of socializing, great snacks and fun pickleball play.

Thanks to all who took the time to come play and make this a fun event to start the new year.

A big thanks to Deb Lantzy who helped set up and clean up this event.

Our next club event will be our first 2022 Membership meeting. The meeting will be on Monday January 17th, at the Marinette auditorium at 4pm. Hope to see many of you attend this meeting.

In the meantime stay safe and healthy. Happy hitting.
