Sun City Pickleball Club Posted on October 25, 2022 by Allen GilsonOctober 25, 2022

Hello Sun City Pickleball

Would like to thank all the members who attended our membership meeting yesterday evening. As I’m sure most of you noticed our meeting was well attended by the people hoping to be elected to the RCSC board of directors. I’d encourage you all to attend the meet and greet for these candidates being held at the Sundial Auditorium tomorrow night, Wednesday the 26th starting at 5:30 pm. Some important questions to ask of these candidates is what their position is in regard to the Mountain View project and the Lake View pickleball project.

We are looking for some techy/computer geeks. If working on web sites and time behind a computer is your thing? Please contact me or any board member.

Also, looking for anyone interested in helping the club by being a tournament director. Tournaments are one of our clubs’ main sources of income. Jeff and Lynda Skaggs have filled the role quite well for several years, but they need a break, actually. would like to play in a tournament themselves. Jeff and Lynda will be the directors for our Spring tournament The Slam. They will be happy to mentor anyone interested in being a director over the course of planning for and running the Slam.

More and more Snowbirds showing up daily. Welcome back.

Fun Day at Mountain View courts this Thursday starting a 4 pm. Bring your social pickleball skills, a snack, ready to have fun and meet new and old friends.

Happy hitting,
Dan

Our Round Up Tournament was a huge success! Despite the torrential down pours we experienced on Saturday! Good morning Sun City Pickleball

Some upcoming events and reminders.

Tomorrow Friday October the 14th, Our Round Up Tournament begins. Runs through Sunday the !6th. All the courts at the Marinette will be in use for this tournament. If you would still like to get some pickleball play in, you will need to head to the Mountain View courts. I’d like to thank all our club volunteers who help make this tournament happen. Also, a big thanks to Lynda and Jeff Skaggs for being the tournament directors. This quite possibly will be Lynda and Jeff’s final time as tournament directors. Will be in need of someone to take their place. If you are not playing or volunteering i recommend you head down just to watch and support or club members who are participating.

Board Nominations

Sun City Pickleball Club Posted on September 10, 2022 by Bill BoothSeptember 10, 2022

Hello Sun City Pickleball

Since my last email, Kathryn Rabe has also made the decision to not pursue being on the board for 2023. Kathryn had the position of Media and Technology Chair. I’d like to thank Kathryn for serving in that capacity in 2022.

There are now three vacancies on our board that definitely need to be filled for 2023. Treasurer, secretary and media and technology. The rest of the board has offered to continue on the board for 2023. They are Dave Parenteau, member at large. Gay Jones, membership. Lynda Skaggs, vice president. Dan Haberman, President.

The nominating committee consisting of Shayne Lehman, Gwen Miller and Ralph Foster have talked to and interviewed several members to fill the upcoming vacant board positions. Their recommendations are; Rachel Trojanovich for secretary. Alice Ritzman for Treasurer and Mo McClean for media and Technology. I’d like to thank Shayne, Gwen and Ralph for serving on the nominating committee

AT the membership meeting on October 24th, at 4 pm at the Marinette auditorium the nominating committee will present their recommendations for the open board positions to the club membership. At that time there can also be nominations from the floor. The elections will be held at the December membership meeting.

I only have a little information at this time in regard to the Lake View Pickleball courts. The RCSC has an architect they are using and are partnering with Elite Sports Builders on the project. The club committee working on this project has seen some very basic drawings. I’d say the project is still in a conceptual phase. More information as it comes in.

Looking forward to seeing all of you out and about and on the courts.

Odds and Ends

Sun City Pickleball Club Posted on March 13, 2022 by Bill BoothMarch 13, 2022

80 degrees today. Yahoo!

The Desert Frogs vs Snowbirds was a great club event. Lots of fun and laughter and just a little competitive juice thrown in. A huge thanks to Marcia Gregory for being the tournament director. Marcia also had some great helpers. Thanks to Winston, Shirley, Ros, Jane and Jeff. The Snowbirds “won” the event, but getting our club together was the important thing.

Thanks to Deb Lantzy and her helpers for setting up and organizing the food for the Farewell Dinner. Again, a fun time was had by one and all.

Thanks to Evelyn Larson for organizing a round robin at the Mountain View to accommodate our club members who were not able to get signed up for the Frogs vs Snowbirds.

Ilja Gregor would like to thank all who donated paddles to his son’s PE class. Ilja was able to send off 30 paddles to his son due to your generosity

I got an interesting email from an Ernesto Velazquez a founder and tournament director of a pickleball club and tournament in Spain. He is having two PB tournaments in Spain, One in June and one July. He is to be sending me more information about promotional packs to go to Spain for these events. If you want to go to Spain to play some PB let me know and I’ll pass on info as I get it.

With the warmer weather approaching, please if you are the last players on the courts at the Marinette or Mt. View pick up the balls and put them into a cooler. Thanks.

Membership meeting on Tuesday, March 15th, at 5 pm at Mt. View auditorium.

All for now, I’m sure someone will remind me tomorrow of something I left out of the email.

See you all on Tuesday,
Dan H.
