Good Evening Sun City Pickleball Club Members. This is just a reminder about a few items. First, the Monday and Tuesday ladders are underway. Mike Luke (email) needs to hear from anyone that has not yet contacted him but still wants to play in the Monday morning ladders. For the Tuesday afternoon ladder, Roland Lefebvre (email) needs to hear from anyone wanting to play in the Tuesday 2:00 p.m. ladder. So please take the time to contact Mike or Roland to help them make out the schedule for these events.
Next, Phil Arinno is the coordinator for the Sun City West team play. We need 2.0 – 4.5 players, both male and female, to contact Phil if you are interested in playing for our club against Sun City West. This is a nice social event plus an opportunity to have a tournament type playing experience. The next event is Sunday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Sun City West.
Dink Tourney: On behalf of our Pickleball club, here’s a BIG THANK YOU to the dink tourney committee: Julie Kimball, Lynn Mysel, Michelle Orton, and Pat Sterba. These ladies organized the brackets for both flights and planned the food for our 2nd annual event. It proved to be a wonderful day … long, but a great time had by all. Special thanks to Ann Clark for the cutest awards ever … so very creative!! Flight 1 winners were: Mark Larson – Alan Kramer, Gold; Barb and Jim Blaser, Silver; Paula Beaty – Dave Breault, Bronze. Flight 2 winners were: Joe Gilfillan – Mike Kapp, Gold; Jane Powell – Kim Trew, Silver; Penny and Jim Janecky, Bronze. Allen Gilson and Ed Everson took several pictures of this event and the album with flight winners and action shots will be posted on our website in the next few weeks. Continue reading →
Elaine Beadell left paddle behind Saturday, probably near the front courts. It is an older Onix Evoke in Red, White and Blue. You may call her if you know anything about its’ location.
Simon, the ball machine at Marinette, has a new battery. It has been brought to my attention that leaving the machine connected to the charger will actually shorten the battery’s life. Simon does need to be put on the charger after each use, but if you happen to be in his closet and the charging light is green please unplug it.
There will be no ladders from Dec 23 through Jan 3. Lessons will also be suspended after next week’s Wednesday lesson until Jan 9th. [Correction: the clinics will be available on Signup Genius for Jan. 4th and 6th]
Everyone seemed to have a great time at the R,W&Blue Tournament yesterday! Between players and spectators we had over 100 people present. There was a computer glitch that put several people on two courts at the same time that slowed play a bit, but Roland and Nancy handled that smoothly! Please thank Roland Lefebvre, who ended up as the main man in this due to illness, and Nancy Harris, who jumped on board Tuesday afternoon, for a great job making this event happen! Also, please thank Pete Miceli and Bev Berger for taking care of the food for us. Thanks everyone! Great job! Continue reading →
Thanks to Pam Raisanen for getting the new logo into the email template for us! Easy for her, perhaps, but not so for some of us!
The SHOOTOUT went off without a hitch except for a little bump from the weather, and that just allowed the facility to shine once again! Thanks to Tournament Director Barry Woods, Volunteer Coordinators John King and Dave Breault and all the volunteers who made this work so well for us. We had several good reports from RCSC on the way the parking situation worked out.

Sign ups for the “C” ladder Tuesday afternoon are running a bit behind. If you wish to play in that one, you must sign up for it separately from the Monday ladders. You may check your name on the list at Marinette if you played last year, or use the sign up sheets posted if you will be new to this ladder. On line registration through the website will be available soon. [Editors note: Instructions for signing up online are onthis ladder page.] Contact Ed with your questions with this form on the contact page.
Registration for both the Monday and Tuesday ladders for the first sessions November 7 and November 8 will end TOMORROW, October 31. Roland, who will be running the Tuesday ladder, has been and will be unavailable, so Ed will be running both for this first session. Sign ups will be considerably later next week.
As noted earlier parking at Marinette for the SHOOTOUT has been restricted. Please try to park on the streets or in the Congregational Church lot so our guests can use the Marinette parking.
