Line Judge Training Clinic-Spring Slam 2023
Line Judge Training Clinic-Spring Slam 2023
Club members-if you have been playing pickleball for six months or more, consider fulfilling your Club volunteer requirement as a line judge for our upcoming Spring Slam, March 10-12. Our own Club member, Elaine Guest, is a certified USA Pickleball Referee. Elaine will soon put you at ease with the role of line judge and share her tournament gold medal match experiences with you during this clinic.
A major revenue source for our club is the tournaments that we host every year at the Marinette courts. For our members who have participated or observed tournament play, you know that successful tournaments depend heavily on our club volunteers. One of the most exciting and dynamic volunteer positions is serving as a line judge.
Our tournaments are USA Pickleball sanctioned events, which require line judges for all gold medal matches. A pickleball line judge, much like a tennis line judge, is part of the team that supports the referee by observing the travel of the ball and signaling to the referee if the ball has touched the ground or other object outside the court boundaries.
Line judges have the opportunity to see the gold medal match competition and the best players compete at all the skill levels. For our members looking to learn how to line judge, this class is a must for you. For our seasoned Club line judges, this is an excellent review of the rules and their application to the game.
We’ll spend about an hour discussing the role of line judge, then we’ll apply that knowledge on the courts to practice the new skills. Go to Sign Up Genius and register no later than March 4th. The class is limited to 16 participants, plus four alternates. Paddle, name tags, and court attire are required!
