Welcome SCPC Members to April, 2020,
Hope you are all well and finding various ways to cope with your “pickleball play withdrawal” symptoms!!! It has been a bit over 2 weeks since our Rec Centers closed – lots of walking going on over here – kind of nice to find out that so many pickleball Club Members live in our neighborhood!
Well, her are some updates on projects our Club started a while back …. my original email went on for many pages (a combo of much time on my hand and being a retired teacher), however, I will send the “condensed” version!
Our Club Shirt/Hat order is well on its way…the printing, etc., is scheduled to begin on Monday. Yay! Obviously, this project did not go according to “plan”, but thanks to Frank Spina and Shelley/Gary Martasin of the Pickleball Marketplace for continuing to pull all this together, we will have Club Shirts/Hats this year! More information forthcoming as things develop. Pick up and delivery will be “under construction” . . . figure all that out later!
The Bleacher purchase for Courts 1 – 4 has been presented, approved and ordered….2 sets of bleachers – one for the East side courts and one for the West side courts. This project has been “in the works” for quite a while so it is great to see the success of this venture come to fruition. You may remember the report on Club requests that Rich Peterson gave at our January General Membership Meeting. Rich continues to put many Club ideas “in motion” – he continues, too, to be on the committee planning that super reconstruction being researched for Mountain View. This bleacher plan started with the work from our 2019 Club Board and the plan was approved by our Membership at the March, 2019 meeting. Tom Jeffers and Jeff Skaggs, who were both on the 2019 Club Board, have continued this year in pursuing this purchase. It should also be noted, that Chris Herring and Myrna DeBruyne from our RCSC worked right along with us to see this through. Bravo to everyone involved!! Updates will be provided as time goes on.
On additional notes:
The Scheduling Committee met earlier in March, and, as the time to “reconvene” on the courts comes about, the “fine tuning” for the new schedule will be finished. Coordinator – Dan Haberman.
More updates to come – paddle holders are “in the works” too!
So, keep those paddles not too far – maybe see you on a “walk about” –
More thanks on the projects above:
2019 Club Board – Dave Sinclair, Ed Millett, Tom Jeffers, Jan Booth, Pat Sterba, Marcia Gregory, Kevin Pates, Jeff Skaggs
2020 Board – Dave Breault, Tom Jeffers, Jan Booth, Ann Clark, Evelyn Larsen, Lynda Skaggs, Dan Haberman
And thank you, too, to so many of our Club Members who are out there volunteering in helping out, as they can, in our community right now!
