If you have been playing Pickleball for more than a month and are a beginner or advanced beginner (1.5 to 2.5 level), sign up and come to one of the four Rating Clinics being offered in March. Our goal is to have all club members rated with either a SC Club Rating or a USAPA Tournament Rating by March, 2019.
Why should I have a rating? Beginning October, 2018, we plan to have times posted during the week when courts will be reserved for Paddle Play. That means Skill-Level Paddles will be hung on courts and players will have the opportunity to play with others of their skill level. The plan is for this to happen for all rating levels. This will NOT replace Open Play, but will be at a different time. Additionally, there will be mentor-run clinics and doubles play for players of the same rating (skill level).
As your skills improve, you will be able to be re-rated to a higher skill level.
The four dates that Rating Clinics will be offered are:
Sat., March 3, 10 am, at Mountain View
Tue., March 6, 12 pm, at Marinette
Sat., March 24, 10 am, at Mountain View
Tue., March 27, 12 pm, at Marinette
THE SHIRTS ARE IN!
The schedules for COD pick-up are Mountain View 2/26 & 2/27 10 AM till Noon with Daryl Wimer. Marinette’s are March 1st and 2nd between 10-noon with Pat Sterba and Pat Klepadlo
Everyone can check the web site for amounts owed. Bring a check (preferred),
made out to the Sun City Pickleball Club but we can take cash if necessary (correct amount!)
No debit or credit! If anybody did not get an order in, the Club ordered extra shirts in most colors, sizes & both genders and they will be $14. We will also sell the extra shirts at the March tournament.
Thanks to Daryl Wimer for arranging the order for our club.
Maybe some of us will show that club spirit and wear our shirts at the Spring Slam.
It was another good time at Marinette for many playing in the “club tournament” on Wednesday.
Special thanks go out to Richard and Barbara Heywood for all their work in setting up the tournament and arranging for food and gifts. We can’t do events without volunteers like Richard and Barbara. Also, special thanks to Marcia Gregory, Pat Klepadlo and Pat Sterba for helping out as well.

Good news. As approved at the last member meeting, we now have two new Rebounder practice boards.
One is located in the Pavilion at Marinette (please use or return this to the east wall, until the new storage shed arrives where we shall store the Rebounder).
The second one is located outside the fence of court 7 at Mt. View. It can be wheeled onto one of the three Mt. View courts nearest the table/seats entrance (won’t fit onto other courts). Storage may be changed to inside the seating area, pending finding a cover for it (any seamstress type willing to make cover, please let a board person know).
Please note that there are various positions of usage for this board, as shown in the video below. It is important to learn from one of our instructors or people that have used the board how to use the board and positioning brackets. Important: The angle adjustment brackets should not be removed from the device, as they cost us for replacements.
This board can be useful in developing good technique, but referring back to your instructor for guidance to avoid developing bad habits is recommended.
These practice boards are available to club members only. This training device is used the same as courts, “first come first serve basis.” Hopefully, like our machines, people will be considerate and release them to others after an hour of usage, should others be waiting.
Here is a video demonstrating usage: https://www.rtsrebounder.com/copy-of-rebounder-features

Survey says: … “do more social events.”
Aside from Friday morning’s rodeo skills event, there is the Friday 5:00pm social play and dinner out after. Both at Marinette on Friday, Feb. 9th.
But there is more.
Don’t forget the Social Play Around this Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Come to Marinette ready to play social pickleball with club members that you have not had a chance to play with. You do not have to commit to the entire 2 hours as players will enter a court each time games end. Come & meet new club members, improve your skills & have a great time! Hosts: Peter Miceli and Bev Berger, thank you.
