A Belgian television crew was in town recently, filming for an upcoming production which will highlight the stages of life. The crew has a number of international stops, but only one in the United States — Sun City. And one of the stops here was for pickleball at the Marinette courts. The director said filming began last November and he hopes to be completed by September. The Sun City Pickleball Club is to receive a video copy of the finished documentary. Here are a few photos from March 14.
Reminder: We have a general membership meeting at Marinette on Tuesday, March 21 at 4pm.

Spring Slam: The Spring Slam held March 10-12th at our Marinette Center went pretty well. Thank you to our tournament director, Glenn Jones, for a job well done and thank you to all of our club volunteers. Many planning hours go into making a tournament successful; this can’t be accomplished without a dedicated director and club volunteers who step up to work our tournaments. If anyone has comments to help our club improve the tournament process, please do not hesitate to send any board member your comments.

Dink Tourney: The Dink tourney is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28th starting at 8:00 a.m. Grab your favorite dink partner and get signed up on our web page. The fee is $5 per team and you must sign up with a partner. This event is open for all ratings … players will be divided into different brackets … for 2.0 to3.0 and 3.5 and up. Please pay your fee to a board member or drop a check in the mailbox at Marinette. Remember, this is a dink only event. No slams. All balls must be in the kitchen, starting with the serve and continuing until a player hits it out of the kitchen, out-of-bounds, or into the net. Seems simple right. Well, come and try this basic skill challenge. This will be a double-elimination event. If you have any questions, just ask a board member or send us an email. Flyers have been posted at each facility.
General Meeting: Our next general meeting will be on Tuesday, March 21 starting at 4:00 p,m. at the Marinette Auditorium.
Court Wash: Next court wash is Sunday, April 2 at Marinette.

Slam Tourney Help Needed:
We need several additional volunteers at the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Please come and help if you’re available over the weekend.
… Specifically, we need line judges for the Gold Medal matches. On Saturday, these matches should start around 1pm… then again at 3pm and the last ones should occur around 5pm. On Sunday, we’ll need line judges for the women’s matches at about 12:30pm, plus between 1-3pm and then again 3-6pm.
… Food table is in desperate need of someone for setup around 7am. We need coffee and Gatorade made plus oranges and bananas cut up. So if any our lady pickleballers are available, please come and help us get ready early both Saturday and Sunday morning.
… We also need someone to post scores … can do 2 hr shifts. Score posting is a pretty easy job but you must understand brackets and how the winner and loser brackets are handled. Sheets are printed for each match and then we just have to post winners and the scores and then post where the loser goes in the “opportunity” bracket. So please come and help if you’re comfortable posting scores.
Reminder for Checking into Marinette in the next few weeks: Spring break is starting so many residents will have extra visitors during the next few weeks. So please be patient when waiting for the Marinette monitors to check in visitors. Please stay in line and wait your turn. The monitors can only check in one person at a time and the Pickleball Club players do NOT get to cut in line.
T-Shirts: Club t-shirts can be picked up at the club table during the tournament. We still have several that were ordered that need to be paid for or we’ll sell these to other members don’t make arrangements to get them. We also have a few extra shirts to sell. They are $13.50 and $14.50/each depending on the size.
See you at the tourney …
The April match with Sun City West has been canceled. We will start up again in October.
