Gwen Miller forwarded information which might be of interest to many of you regarding a new organization called “Super Seniors International Pickleball Association”. We need to be 65 to join, and it looks pretty interesting. Check it out at
This is my last email as President of the SCPC, and I want to thank all of you for your support over the past two years. We had some great people working on the Board and some tremendous help from volunteers. There was serious growth and a lot got accomplished, but we made sure to leave plenty for future boards to do! More important than anything leadership can do though, is for you, the members, to continue getting out and participating.
Thanks to those who pointed out that the intersection being closed mid January will be at Union Hills (not Bell) and 99th!
Starting next month the guest fee will increase to $3, in part due to the increased minimum wage and its’ effect on RCSC’s payroll. Punch cards will be honored at $3 per punch regardless of when they were bought. Continue reading →
Phil has asked me to forward this: “Any ladies that are 3.0 and lower that would like to play on a inter club team that will play on Wednesdays at 12:30, Contact Phil Arinno. We have 4 teams and will stop at 6. The start date is January 11th. This is a competitive league not another ladder, you will be placed on a team.” Play will begin at 12:45 as the lessons will just be concluding at 12:30, but a 12:30 arrival will be a good idea. Slam Director Glenn Jones has arranged with the person doing brackets for the tournament to put all 2.5 Women, Men or Mixed teams together in one bracket regardless of age if there are at least three teams entered. If you are interested in playing it would be worth your while to recruit other teams to play against, otherwise 2.5’s will be grouped with 3.0s in order to create competition for them. This happened to two of our teams at the Shootout. It couldn’t have been fun, but the only other solution is to withdraw and not play at all. All brackets are filling rapidly, so get your entry in ASAP or you may be shut out, regardless of level.
This event is not really a tournament. This is more like a “ladder” event limited to the first 88 entries. Each entrant will be placed on one of four teams… each team will wear a specific color. Similar to the ladder, all games will played against players of similar ability but they will be on one of the other 3 teams. For example, Marcia on the red team will play with Pat from the blue team and play against John from the white team who is playing with George on the gray team. So you will want to cheer for players wearing your “team color”. Continue reading →

Sign Up for the “Team Tournament” January 6th is now available on the Website through Sign Up Genius. If a friend doesn’t have email you may sign him/her up by substituting the name in the appropriate box in SUG. Please exercise a little patience on this – it works, but takes some getting used to!
Simon, the ball machine from Marinette, has gone on a brief vacation to have some of his connections fixed. Rick Condrashoff has been kind enough tp examine Simon, find the problem and take the machine to the Simon Hospital for repairs. Expect him back first of the week. Continue reading →
Elaine Beadell left paddle behind Saturday, probably near the front courts. It is an older Onix Evoke in Red, White and Blue. You may call her if you know anything about its’ location.
Simon, the ball machine at Marinette, has a new battery. It has been brought to my attention that leaving the machine connected to the charger will actually shorten the battery’s life. Simon does need to be put on the charger after each use, but if you happen to be in his closet and the charging light is green please unplug it.
There will be no ladders from Dec 23 through Jan 3. Lessons will also be suspended after next week’s Wednesday lesson until Jan 9th. [Correction: the clinics will be available on Signup Genius for Jan. 4th and 6th]
